AINU: Indigenous Peoples in JapanRefugees in Japan
(Programme #1557; TRT 4'37")

Out of thousands of people who sought asylum in Japan, 28 people were
granted refugee status in 2016. A further 97 people, though not
recognized as refugees, were approved to stay in Japan on humanitarian
grounds. More efforts are being made to integrate refugees into Japanese
society in partnership with UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Demining and Bomb Disposal in Somalia (Programme #1558; TRT 3'30")

Years of armed conflict in Somalia has resulted in its land being
contaminated by death traps on the ground, such as unexploded ordnance
and other life threatening devices. The United Nations Mine Action
Service (UNMAS), with funding from the Japanese Government, is assisting
the Somali people in reducing these menaces of war. (Video courtesy of

UNDP Panda Ambassadors for SDGs (Programme #1559; TRT 3'33")

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has established a new
method on spreading the word about the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs.) They designated two panda cubs as the first-ever animal

the goals. (Footage courtesy of UNDP)
